TEN CRYPTOCURRENCY BOOKS YOU SHOULD READ.

Interested in cryptocurrency, but not sure where to start or find more information. I’ve been reading and listening (Audible Books) to several cryptocurrency books since learning about cryptocurrency. I thought I would assemble a list of some books that you can find on Amazon or Audible.

1. Digital Gold – By Nathaniel Popper

Written in 2015. This essentially starts at the beginning of Bitcoin. Takes you thru the dramatic rise of Bitcoin and the personalities that helped it become to what it is now. A great introduction and one of my favorite books so far. My only regret is that it only takes you up to 2015 but don’t be worried about being disappointed, those where jam packed years of growing.

2. The Internet of Money – by Andreas Antonopoulos

If you don’t know who Andreas Antonopoulos is, you should really read this right away. A individual that can present challenging material like Bitcoin and make it easy to understand it’s significance. In this book Andreas goes beyond its explanation of Bitcoin’s network and all the technical jargon that goes with it. Instead he explores the economic, political, social and Philosophical implications of this technology that has forever impacted our world.

3. The Age of Cryptocurrency: How Bitcoin and Digital Money are Challenging the Global Economic Order – By Paul Vigna & Michael J. Casey

A long title but don’t get discouraged, this is a great introduction into cryptocurrency and Bitcoin for that matter. The book touches on several different cryptocurrencies and talks about the background and where it might take us. A great non-technical  look at cryptocurrency overall.

4. Mastering Bitcoin – By Andreas Antonopoulos

DYOR (Do Your Own Research). If you’re doing your research perhaps you should start here. This is a great introduction to Bitcoin, especially for non-technical individuals or those doing their research before investing or even starting up your own project. Andreas Antonopoulos has a way of delivering his information via analogies and short stories to make the data interesting. This book goes into the technical data, blockchain, coding languages, addresses, keys, wallets, security and so much more.

5. The Book of Satoshi: The Collected Writings of Bitcoin Creator Satoshi Nakamoto – By Phil Champagne

Almost since the beginning of Bitcoin, we have wondered Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto? Bitcoin has forever changed our world yet it’s creator or creators exist only by the Satoshi Nakamoto persona. In this book Satoshi Nakamoto’s writings are gathered for us to analyze and maybe find clues of who the real Satoshi Nakamoto is. The book though not necessarily linear goes straight to the source and covers his emails and posts from computer forums which can provide an insight to his vision.

6. The Bitcoin Standard – By Saifedean Ammous

A good read on explaining what money is in general, from the history of seashells as money to digital money and Bitcoin. This book is written to discuss what currency is and it’s purpose before getting to Bitcoin. The book goes into human behavior involving money, economics, history and future of money. The author also discusses “sound” & “unsound” money and it’s concepts.

7. Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor’s Guide to Bitcoin & Beyond – By Chris Burniske & Jack Tatar

Let’s talk cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Ripple and more. This explains why to invest, how to invest and what to invest into when dealing with cryptocurrency. If you are new to cryptocurrency and looking to invest, this should probably be one of your stops. This provides a good and useful framework on some of the more popular cryptocurrencies. The book goes over buying strategies and investment advice as it teaches you about fundamental analysis, volume, liquidity and volatility.

8. Inventing Bitcoin: The Technology Behind the First Truly Scarce and Decentralized Money Explained – by Yan Pritzker

A great read on Bitcoin and it’s blockchain technology without techno-babble, investment strategies or even soapbox discussion on why you should own Bitcoin. The author goes in objective method of explaining how Bitcoin functions including mining and it’s concept of Proof of Work. Explaining Bitcoin from the thought of magic internet money to revolutionary technology that will forever change things.

9. Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business, and the world – By Don Tapscott & Alex Tapscott

Blockchain is the technology that powers Bitcoin, but it is so much more than that. Blockchain is a public ledger that is not controlled by any single person or company, yet is open sourced and can be accessed by any one any where at any time. This ledger takes us into the 21st century and will continue to change and shape our future in so many ways that it is impossible to know it’s limits. A high level view on what blockchain is and what it can do.

10. Bitcoin Billionaires – By Ben Mezrich

If you’ve heard about the Winklevoss Twins then you probably know about their involvement in Facebook, but do you know about their gamble on Bitcoin in it’s early days. This book does more about explaining the gamble the Winklevoss twins take after their loss against Facebook & Zuckerberg. It talks about the major players in the cryptocurrency world from the days of the Silk Road to their starting up a cryptocurrency exchange. Though the book is not heavy in educating the reader on economics, technical data or even blockchain it does give an interesting perspective from the view of more or less known personalities.

BONUS. Buffett: The Making of an American Capitalist by  Roger Lowenstein

I know Warren Buffett isn’t in the cryptocurrency world, matter of fact he’s against it and even calls it Rat Poison Squared, but this is a great read of someone who came essentially from nothing to become something that is revealed throughout the financial world. I found this book fascinating and an interesting look into who Warren Buffett is from his personal life to his business life.
